II) Short Notes A) The Neolithic Era  Around 4500 BC, the people living in the area that would become the British Isles emerged from the Paleolithic era into what we now call the Neolithic era. Among other things, it describes the rise and fall of kings and bishops and the important battles of the time. G)William's system of government  William organized the government of England on the system that had been so successful in Normandy. This is called the feudal system, and it is based on the ownership of land. William took the land away from its English owners and divided it among his Norman lords. Most of the King's own land was forest, which he kept for hunting. H) William Rufus  When William of Normandy died, he left England to his second son, William Rufus. Rufus was an ugly and evil character, who scorned religion and took delight in cruelty.
