أعلنت شركة الاتصالات “دو” du عن إطلاق مشروع توفير الإنترنت اللاسلكي “واي فاي الإمارات” في الأماكن العامة. على أن يبدأ تنفيذ المشروع بشكل فوري ابتداءً من العاصمة أبو ظبي ودبي ومن ثم بشكل تدريجي بباقي أرجاء الدولة. وكشفت “دو” أن المشروع سيبدأ بتوفير الخدمة في أكثر من 100 موقع في أنحاء العاصمة أبوظبي وإمارة دبي متبوعة بباقي أرجاء الدولة. وسيبدأ تنفيذ المشروع بشكل فوري وسيتم الإعلان عن كل مرحلة في حينها. وبالإضافة إلى ماسبق، أوضحت الشركة أن الخدمة ستتيح للمقيمين وزوار دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة الحصول على المعلومات الخاصة بالمواقع السياحية والوجهات التي تهمهم في الدولة. ويقوم بتزويد خدمات الاتصالات في الإمارات كل من شركة “اتصالات” و شركة “دو”، حيث تستحوذ “اتصالات” على ما يزيد عن 80 بالمائة من حجم السوق لتكون أكبر مزود خدمات على مستوى الإمارات.

في خطوة غريبة بعض الشيء قررت شركة ياهو اليوم من منع أي شخص من الوصول إلى خدمات المرتبطة بحسابك في Yahoo ID وذلك من خلال ربط حسابك الشخصي من قوقل أو الفيسبوك.ياهو قامت بتوفير هذه الخاصية منذ العام 2010 ولكن كل هذا تم أيقافه وسيتم تطبيقه بشكل تدريجي لكافة خدمات ياهو.

يبدو أن مايكروسوفت لديها اهتمام زائد بالابتكارات الخاصة بغرف المعيشة، فقد كشفت مؤخرا عن متصفح للإنترنت ينقل صورة ثلاثية الأبعاد ويعرض محتويات الشبكة العنكبوتية على الحائط والأسطح المحيطة. ويقدم متصفح SurroundWeb خواص جديدة وغير معهودة، وإن كان ما يوفره من تحول من استخدام النقر على الفأرة إلى اللمس بأطراف الأصابع يعد بداية لسلسلة من الابتكارات في هذا المجال. ويشبه المتصفح في تصميمه تقنية IllumiRoom التي أطلقتها مايكروسوفت في السابق لعالم الألعاب بعرض محتويات شاشة اللعب على الحائط الخلفي. ولن يعرض SurroundWeb محتوى الشاشة على الحائط فقط، إنما سيعدل أبعاد العرض الخاصة به لتتناسب مع الأجسام الموجودة في الغرفة، وأشارت الشركة إلى أن نموذجها الأولي من المتصفح يحتاج لفترة دقيقة لمسح الغرفة، ويستطيع عرض خمس وعشرين نافذة بأبعاد تصل حتى 1440×720، وبمعدل 30 إطار للنافذة. ولم تحدد مايكروسوفت موعد إطلاق المتصفح أو الأجهزة التي سيصدر عليها، وإن كان من المتوقع أن يحتاج تطويره مزيدا من الوقت، كون المشروع في مرحلة مبكرة.

أطلقت خدمة مشاركة الصور “500 بكسلز” 500px الثلاثاء متجرًا للترخيص التجاري يسمح لها ببيع الصور على أن يحصل المصورون على 70 بالمائة من عائدات كل صور يتم بيعها عبر هذا المتجر. وقالت الخدمة على مدونتها إن “500 بكسلز برايم” 500px Prime، وهو الاسم الذي أطلقته على المتجر، يُعتبر الخطوة الأولى لها في عالم “الترخيص التجاري للصور”. وكانت “500 بكسلز” قد كشفت عن مشروع المتجر في 6 شباط/فبراير الماضي، وكانت تعتزم منح المصورين ما نسبته 30 بالمائة من عائدات الصور، إلا أنها عدلت عن ذلك وزادت النسبة لتصبح 70 بالمائة. وقال مؤسس الخدمة ومدير المنتجات لديها “إفجيني تشيبوتاريف”، إن هذه النسبة عادلة، وأضاف “نريد أن نعطي جميع المصورين، الهواة منهم و المحترفين، فرصة للحصول على تعويض عن أعمالهم”. وما يزال متجر الترخيص التجاري “500 بكسلز برايم” الجديد تجريبيًا، لذا يحتاج مستخدمو خدمة “500 بكسلز” لدعوة لإنشاء حساب والوصول إلى المتجر الجديد، أي أن الخدمة ليست متاحة للجميع بعد. وعلى صعيد آخر، كانت الخدمة قد طرحت منتصف شباط/فبراير الماضي تحديثًا لتطبيقها على نظام “آي أو إس” المُشغل لأجهزة شركة “آبل” الذكية، ليمنح المستخدمين، ولأول مرة، القدرة على رفع صورهم من هذه الأجهزة مباشرة. وتملك خدمة “500 بكسلز” التي انطلقت في شهر تشرين الأول/أكتوبر من عام 2009، الآن أكثر من 2.5 مليون مستخدم مسجل.

أكدت دراسة أكاديمية إمكانية رصد حجم تفشي إدمان المخدرات أو إنتشار فيروس نقص المناعة البشرية HIV في مكان ما عبر متابعة المشاركات التي يتم نشرها على الشبكات الاجتماعية، خاصة شبكة “تويتر”. وقام فريق بحثي من جامعة كاليفورنيا باستخدام “تويتر”، كمثال على وسائل الاعلام الاجتماعي التي ينشر بها مشاركات تعبر عن واقع المستخدمين، لرسم خرائط بمناطق يتوقع إصابتها بالأمراض الناتجة عن الاتصال الجنسي إضافة إلى المناطق التي يكثر فيها الإدمان بالمخدرات. وجمع الباحثون أكثر من 550 مليون تغريدة في الفترة ما بين مايو وديسمبر 2012، وقاموا بتطوير خوارزمية لإيجاد الكلمات والعبارات التي تدل على إمكاني تعاطي مستخدمها للمخدرات أو قيامه بسلوكيات جنسية قد تنطوي على مخاطر. وتتبعت الخوارزمية كلمات مثل “جنس” و”تعاطي” و”مخدرات”، إضافة إلى مصطلحات تستخدم أيضاً للدلالة على تعاطي المخدرات أو القيام بسلوكيات جنسية خاطئة. وقارن الفريق البحثي الخريطة التي قاموا برسمها لمناطق أمريكية استنتجوا انتشار فيروس نقص المناعة البشرية أو انتشار تعاطي المخدرات بها، عقب تحليل التغريدات، بخريطة تم إنشاؤها من بيانات واقعية، ووجد تطابق كبير بين الخريطتين. وأكد الباحثون في الدراسة التي تم الكشف عنها مؤخراً، عبر دورية journal Preventive Medicine العلمية، أن البيانات الكبيرة التي يتم تداولها عبر وسائل الاعلام الاجتماعي لا تستخدم فقط في رصد المخاطر عن بعد، ولكن يمكن استخدامها على نحو واسع في التنبؤ بتلك المخاطر. وأضاف الباحثون أن باستخدام الخوارزميات المناسبة ومراقبة التغريدات والمشاركات على الشبكات الاجتماعية يمكن رسم خرائط بالأماكن التي قد تتعرض لمعدل كبير من الإصابة بالأمراض المرتبطة بالسلوكيات الجنسية الخاطئة أو بالأكن التي قد تنتشر المخدرات بين سكانها. يذكر أن دراسة سابقة كانت قد أكدت إمكانية استخدام “تويتر” لإنشاء خدمة للكشف المبكر عن إنتشار العدوى الفيروسية وأمراض مثل الإنفلونزا، ولرسم خرائط بتلك المناطق المصابة عبر تتبع تغريدات مستخدمي الشبكة الاجتماعية.
