Family life 

people in many countries feel that family life is different today than it was in the past . the cause of this feeling does not lie in the fact that more women have begun to work . it is rather due to the fact that the place where everyone works has changed . home used to be the central place where everyone spent the day . now it has become a place where people do little more than sleep , get cleaned up , and change clothes . 

work has moved into separate production centers where jobs cannot be done with a baby on your back . as mothers left home for the office or factory , children’s separation from the adult world has very much increased . the fathers role has also changed . men are supposed to take an active part in taking care of children . it is true that some men are taking more responsibility for their children . but many working women are still doing more than men for the family . this means that women have two roles : the role of parent and the role of worker . the heavy responsibilities of both roles make women very tired .

Translate the following two passages into English :

1- يستخدم الانترنت لأسباب عديدة . فيستخدمه بعض الناس لتبادل المعلومات ، ويستخدمه البعض الآخر للكتابة لبعضهم البعض بطريقة الكترونية (5marks)

2- علي إسرائيل أن تضع حدا لسياسة تدمير المنازل التي تعاني منها كثير من العائلات الفلسطينية (3marks)

يشعر الناس في كثير من البلدان أن الحياة الأسرية الآن تختلف عما كانت عليه في الماضي (فيما مضي) .وليس السبب وراء هذا الشعور هو حقيقة ازدياد أعداد المرأة العاملة . فهو بالاحرى يرجع إلي حقيقة تغير أماكن العمل . حيث كان المنزل هو المكان الرئيسي الذي يقضي فيه الناس نهارهم . ولكنه أصبح الآن عبارة عن مكان يقوم فيه الناس فقط بالنوم والاستحمام وتغيير ملابسهم .

وأنتقل العمل إلي مراكز إنتاجية يصعب فيها تأدية وظائفنا ونحن نحمل أطفالنا الرضع علي ظهورنا .   وقد أزداد انفصال الأطفال بشكل كبير عن عالم الكبار بخروج الأمهات للعمل في المكاتب أو المصانع . كما تغير أيضا الدور الذي يقوم به الأب . فمن المفترض أن يقوم الرجل بدور فعال في العناية بالصغار . وقيام بعض الرجال بتحمل مسئوليات زائدة فيما يتعلق بأطفالهم هو أمر حقيقي ، ولكن مازالت العديد من النساء العاملات يقمن بأكثر مما يقوم به أزواجهن من أجل الأسرة . مما يعني أن للمرأة دوران : دور الأم ودور المرأة العاملة . وتتسبب مسئوليات كلا الدورين بإصابة المرأة بالإجهاد (بالتعب الشديد)   .

1- people use the internet for many reasons . some people use it to exchange information , others use it to write to each other electronically.

2- Israel must put an end to the policy of demolishing homes that many Palestinian families suffer .

translate the following passage into Arabic:

ترجم القطعة التالية إلي اللغة العربية :

when she was a child J.K Rowling loved reading books and making up stories of her own . when she was five , she wrote her first story called “ Rabbit” when she was in high school , her favorite activity was telling long , complicated stories to her friends .

when she grew up , Rowling continued to write . one day in the summer of 1990 , she was on a long train ride . she suddenly had an idea for a book about a boy named Harry potter .Rowling who was divorced was the mother of a small baby . she didn’t have a job and had a very little money . her tiny apartment was very cold . during the day Rowling would take her daughter to a café and write while the baby slept next to her .when she finished the book , she started sending it to publishers . in the beginning , no one wanted to publish it . but in June 1997 , her story “Harry potter and the philosophers stone” finally appeared . the book achieved great success . more than a million books were sold . Rowling wrote more Harry potter books . they were all translated into many different languages and enjoyed by children and adults around the world.

1- قام مجموعة من الرجال ، قيل أن ثلاثة منهم مسلحون ، بسطو مسلح على البنك .

عندما كانت جي كي رولنج  طفلة كانت تحب قراءة الكتب واختلاف القصص . وعندما بلغت الخامسة من عمرها قامت بكتابة قصتها الأولي باسم " الأرنب " وفي المرحلة الثانوية كانت أفضل أنشطتها هي حكاية قصص طويلة ومعقدة لأصدقائها .

وعندما كبرت استمرت في الكتابة . وفي صيف أحد أيام عام 1990 كانت علي متن أحد القطارات في رحلة طويلة ، وفجأة جاءتها فكرة كتاب عن غلام اسمه هاري بوتر . وكانت " رولنج " مطلقة و أم لطفلة رضيعة ولم يكن لديها وظيفة ولديها القليل جدا من المال . وكانت شقتها الصغيرة باردة . وكانت تأخذ بابنتها أثناء النهار إلي احدي المقاهي وتكتب بينما تنام الطفلة بجوارها . وعندما انتهت من الكتاب قامت بإرساله إلي ناشرين . ولم يكن أحد منهم في البداية يريد نشر الكتاب . ولكن في يونية من عام 1997 ظهرت قصتها أخيرا المسماة " هاري بوتر وحجر الفيلسوف " . وقد حقق الكتاب نجاحا باهرا وتم بيع أكثر من مليون نسخة . وقامت " رولنج" بكتابة المزيد من قصص " هاري بوتر " وتم ترجمتها جميعا للعديد من اللغات وأعجب بها الأطفال والكبار في أنحاء العالم .

1- translate the following passage into Arabic :
Queen Hatshepsut
on the west bank of the Nile river , near the valley of the kings in Egypt , stands a great temple .this temple was built in honour of queen Hatshepsut who was the ruler of Egypt . when her father king Thutmose died she and her brother got the throne . shortly afterward , her brother died , leaving Hatshepsut to rule the land alone . even though she was a women , she was crowned as “ pharaoh “ . pharaoh is an Egyptian title that means king or emperor . ancient paintings show Hatshepsut wearing a false beard . a beard was only worn by pharaohs as the symbol of wisdom . she wore men’s clothes and the crown of the pharaoh , too . Hatshepsut was a very clever ruler and spent great efforts to activate trade with other lands . she also gave great care to building beautiful temples . she built the temple on the Nile as a place for her body to rest when she dies. she made sure it was a beautiful structure so that people would remember her .

2- Translate the following two passages into English :

1- إن مكتبة الإسكندرية تثبت للعالم كله أن مصر بلد العلم والمعرفة كانت المكتبة القديمة مركزا للنهضة الثقافية ، والمكتبة الجديدة ستكون نقطة تحول لمستقبل أفضل للإنسانية.                
2- قضاء العطلات في الأرياف يتيح للإنسان الاستمتاع بالهدوء وجمال الطبيعة ، ويوفر له هدنة مؤقتة من ضوضاء المدينة

يوجد معبد ضخم علي الضفة الغربية لنهر النيل بالقرب من وادي الملوك في مصر . تم بناء هذا المعبد تكريما للملكة حتشبسوت التي كانت تحكم مصر . وقد اعتلت هي وأخيها العرش بعد وفاة أبيها الملك تحتمس ، وتوفي شقيقها بعد ذلك بفترة وجيزة تاركا حتشبسوت تحكم مصر بمفردها . وقد تم تنصيبها " فرعونا" بالرغم من كونها امرأة . ولقب فرعون هو لقب مصري يعني ملك أو إمبراطور .

وقد صورت الرسومات القديمة حتشبسوت بلحية مستعارة .  وهي كان يرتديها الفراعنة فقط كرمز للحكمة .  وكانت ترتدي ملابس الرجال بالإضافة إلي تاج الملك .

وقد كانت حتشبسوت زعيمة شديدة الذكاء وبذلك الكثير من المساعي لتنشيط التجارة مع بلدان أخري . كما اعتنت بشدة ببناء معابد جميلة . وقامت ببناء معبدها علي النيل ليكون مكانا يستريح فيها جسدها بعد وفاتها . وقد حرصت علي أن يكون بناءا يتميز بالجمال حتى يتذكرها الناس .

1- Alexandria library proves to the whole universe that Egypt is the land of science and knowledge . the old bibliotheca was a central  for cultural upswing , and the new one is going to be a turning point towards a better future for humanity .

2- spending holidays in the countryside gives (allows) a person an opportunity to enjoy quietness and the beauty of nature , it also provides him with a temporary tranquility from the city noise .

امتحان يوليو 2012 داخل مصر

Translate the following passages into Arabic :

 1- Nuclear technology is now so widespread that it is only political will which stops many countries from making nuclear weapons. Mohammed el-Baradei, former head of the international atomic agency (IAEA), said that 40 countries could make the bomb if they wanted to. the reason for this is that technology is legally used to enrich uranium to make fuel for nuclear weapons. a country could do this in secret or withdraw from the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (HPT) , and do it any way .  this is the Achilles heel of the HPT – an agreement designed to stop the spread of nuclear weapons while allowing countries access to nuclear power .

2- Ahmed zewail

in 1999, professor Ahmed zewail  was awarded the noble prize for chemistry . the noble prize is the highest award that any one can be given . in one of the interviews Zewail said that one should have a certain aim to which all his life may be devoted . he had a certain objective before his eyes from the very beginning of his life . to be a professor at university was his only dream . he was a quiet child , away from quarrelling with other children , he liked sitting with those who were older than him . his most important bliss was listening . this good quality taught him to concentrate whenever he listens to a scientific speech.

Translate the following into English :

1- القدرة علي الإبداع عامل مهم من عوامل تنمية ذهن الطفل الصغير وعندما يجلس الطفل ساعتين لمشاهدة التليفزيون فانه يستمتع بالمشاهدة لكنه في الوقت نفسه لا يفكر مادام التليفزيون يسقيه المعلومات بالملعقة .

2- الثقة بالنفس عنصر من العناصر الأساسية في تكوين الشخصية الناجحة أنها تجعل الإنسان مؤمنا بقدرته الخلاقة مستثمرا مواهبه وبدونها لا يستطيع  أن يتغلب علي الصعاب التي تعترض سبيله في الحياة .

التسليح النووي : هل من الممكن إيقافه ؟


أصبحت التكنولوجيا النووية واسعة الانتشار لدرجة أن أصبحت الإرادة السياسية فقط هي التي تمنع العديد من الدول من صنع الأسلحة النووية . وأعلن محمد البرادعي المدير السابق للوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية انه في استطاعة 40 دولة أن تقوم بتصنيع القنبلة النووية إذا أرادت ويرجع السبب في هذا إلي أن التكنولوجيا تستخدم بشكل قانوني لتخصيب اليورانيوم للحصول علي الوقود  اللازم للأسلحة النووية ، وفي استطاعة أية دولة القيام بذلك سواء سرا أو بأن تنسحب من معاهدة منع الانتشار النووي وتقوم بتصنيع القنبلة النووية تلك المعاهدة التي تهدف إلي منع انتشار الأسلحة النووية بينما نجدها تسمح بذلك للدول بامتلاك التكنولوجيا النووية ( الطاقة النووية )

احمد زويل

في عام 1999 تم منح جائزة نوبل في علم الكيمياء للدكتور احمد زويل وتعتبر جائزة نوبل هي أعلى جائزة قد يحصل عليها إنسان وفي احدي المقابلات صرح زويل أن الإنسان يجب أن يكون لديه هدف يكرس حياته كلها لتحقيقه وقد وضع هدفا محددا أمام عينيه منذ بدايته حيث كان حلمه الوحيد هو ان يكون أستاذا جامعيا وقد كان طفلا هادئا لا يتعارك مع الأطفال الآخرين وكان يفضل الجلوس مع من هم اكبر منه سنا وقد كانت أفضل فضائله هي الإنصات وقد علمته تلك الميزة التركيز أينما كان ينصت إلى احد الخطابات العلمية التي يلقيها غيره .

1- the ability of creation is one of the important factors in developing the young child’s mind . when a child spends two hours in watching television , he enjoys it , but at the same time doesn’t think as long as television spoon-feds him the information’s

 2- self - confidence is one of the main elements in forming the successful character , as it makes people believe in their creative abilities invest their talents , and without it , they cant overcome the difficulties that face them in their lives .
